Our team
A tight-knit team
A school is nothing without the people who bring it to life. At Bousso’s Baobab, we focus more on quality than quantity: the team is small, allows a better communication and offers continuous training for the educators. Currently, we have a mixed-age group.
The team will expand for the new school year starting on September 1, 2025, with the addition of one German-speaking and one French-speaking early childhood educator.
Bousso Niang
Founder, director and pedagogue
Bousso Niang is a German-Senegalese mother of three (aged 12, 16 and 24), a passionate educator and social worker.
She obtained her degree as a certified educator in Cologne, Germany, in 2005.
Bousso has since further educated herself in early childhood education, learning therapy, child protection and coaching.
She has worked nationally and internationally as an educator, consultant, director of various institutions, social worker, coach and teacher in adult education.
In addition to German and French, Bousso is fluent in English and speaks Wolof very well. She has lived and worked in the US as well as in Senegal for many years.

Alice Roman
Vice director and teacher
Alice is a French teacher who has lived in Senegal for over 10 years. She has taught the French curriculum as well as French as a foreign language in several international schools.
From the start of the 2025 school year, she will join the teaching team and be in charge of the French-speaking part of the school: learning and perfecting French, as well as more advanced language activities for French-speaking students.
Alongside this, Alice will take on the role of Vce Director.

Veronika Pfannkuch
Teacher
Veronika Pfannkuch is a trained educator from Germany and has over 30 years of professional experience. Her international career has taken her to Namibia, Ethiopia and, in recent years, to South Korea and Taiwan, where she has managed kindergartens, dormitories and after-school care centers at German schools abroad.
A central aspect of her work is intercultural exchange – she believes that experiencing and understanding different traditions together promotes openness to the world and empathy.
In her educational practice, she focuses on theater, dance and music as a means of promoting language skills. Working with pre-school children is also particularly close to her heart – she admires their curiosity and ability to develop and question their view of the world.

Hélène
Assistant
Hélène is the educational assistant. She takes care of the children’s development, their emotional security, and their physical and mental well-being. Hélène completed her training as an educator in 2024 in M’Bour, Senegal, and decided to start her career in early childhood education. With her positive energy, patience, caring nature, and passion for movement, dance, and music, Hélène enriches our daily lives anew each day.
