Multilingual program

The pedagogical concept of Bousso’s Baobab is built on a trilingual education program that gently and playfully introduces children to German, French, and Wolof.
In today’s globalized world, intercultural communication is becoming increasingly important — not only for children from multilingual families, but also for those whose parents speak only one language. More and more monolingual families are choosing to give their children early access to multiple languages.
At the heart of language learning is the mother tongue. It strengthens a child’s emotional and cultural foundation and makes it easier to acquire additional languages. The more confidently a child speaks their first language, the easier it becomes to learn a second or third one.
The early years are the ideal time to introduce new languages — children learn naturally, intuitively, and without pressure. This playful and open approach allows them to explore languages with joy, curiosity, and no fear of making mistakes.
Multilingualism nurtures not only language skills, but also creativity, self-confidence, and a deeper understanding of other cultures
The multilingual offer
The speakers
We implement the concept of “One person = one language”, meaning that an educator who speaks one language never changes it. This enables children to learn intuitively, just as they learn their mother tongue. We employ native or fully bilingual speakers in their assigned language.
The context
Learning takes place in context, which means it’s supported by actions (I verbalize what I’m doing and seeing) throughout the day. There are no “language lessons” at a certain time or on a certain day, just constant immersion. A real language bath!
The thinking
Language learning stimulates divergent thinking, a kind of thinking that generates multiple solutions to a problem. By learning a new language, children are confronted with different grammatical structures and vocabularies, leading them to think more flexibly and inventively.
The culture
Learning a language also means opening up to a new culture and being able to adapt in different situations, with different people. Multiculturalism is an important part of the modern world, and we need to prepare our children for it.
Multiple languages, one curriculum
3 languages are practiced at Bousso’s Baobab:
German, French and Wolof
You don’t need to be familiar with either of the two languages in order to enroll.
